The simplest way to brew beer at home. A tin of hopped malt extract, some brewing sugar, yeast and a couple of weeks is all it takes — no all-grain gear, no brew day. Choose from the trusted names: Coopers, Morgans, Black Rock, Mangrove Jack’s, Brick Road and Beermakers.

If you’re new to brewing, this is where you start. A beer kit is a tin of pre-hopped malt extract that does the hard work for you: add water, brewing sugar and the included yeast, ferment for a couple of weeks, bottle, and you’ve got a full case of fresh beer for a fraction of the retail price. No mash, no brew day, no specialist equipment.
We stock the full range from the names that made home brewing what it is:
Coopers — the Australian icon, and the range most first-time brewers start with. Lagers, ales, stouts and the famous Coopers real ale yeast.
Morgans — a huge spread of styles from classic lagers to bold specialty brews, with quality malt that punches above its price.
Black Rock — New Zealand’s finest, known for clean, reliable results across lagers, ales and pilsners.
Mangrove Jack’s — the craft-leaning choice, with modern styles and premium ingredients for brewers who want something a bit different.
Brick Road — 100% brewed and sourced, with a strong IPA and hazy range for hop lovers.
Beermakers — straightforward, dependable Australian kits that just work.
Sanitise your fermenter, tip in the tin and your brewing sugar, top up with water, add the yeast, and seal it with an airlock. Two weeks or so later it’s ready to bottle, then a week or two conditioning and you’re pouring. Every tin lists the style, bitterness and what to add — so you always know what you’re getting.
Once you’ve got a few batches under your belt, our Beer Clone Recipe Kits let you recreate specific commercial beers, and our All-Grain range gives you full control over every ingredient. But there’s no rush — a great beer kit makes a great beer, and plenty of brewers happily stay right here.
New to brewing? Here’s everything you need to know to turn a tin into a case of beer you made yourself.
A fermenter with an airlock, brewing sugar (or a beer enhancer/dry malt for more body), and something to bottle into with caps. The yeast is usually included under the tin’s lid. If you’re starting from scratch, a beer starter kit bundles the equipment together — then you just add the tin.
About two weeks to ferment, then another one to two weeks conditioning in the bottle before it’s at its best. So roughly three to four weeks from tin to first pour. It’s worth the wait — the conditioning time is where the flavour rounds out.
A standard 1.7kg tin makes around 23 litres — about a full case (30 x 750ml bottles, or the equivalent in stubbies). That works out to well under a dollar a bottle, which is a big part of why people start home brewing.
For your first brew, Coopers or Morgans are the easiest and most forgiving. If you want something more craft, look at Mangrove Jack’s or Brick Road. Black Rock is a reliable all-rounder. Honestly, pick the style you’d most like to drink — every brand here makes a quality kit.
Absolutely. Swapping plain brewing sugar or dextrose for dry malt extract or a beer enhancer gives more body and a fuller flavour, and adding a little steeped specialty grain or extra hops lifts it further. Small upgrades make a noticeable difference — it’s how most brewers improve without going full all-grain.
