Coopers Home Brew Kits — Where Most Australians Start
If you ask a room of home brewers what their first batch was, most will say a Coopers kit. There’s a reason: they’re forgiving, consistent, widely loved, and they make genuinely good beer. Each tin of hopped malt extract comes with everything you need bar the water and sugar — including Coopers’ famous ale yeast — so you can go from tin to a full case of fresh beer in about two weeks.
The Coopers Original Series
The classics that built the range: Coopers Original Lager, Draught, Real Ale, Australian Pale Ale, Old Dark Ale, Stout, Canadian Blonde, European Lager, English Bitter and Mexican Cerveza. Reliable, well-balanced and beginner-friendly — a perfect first brew and a dependable regular.
The Thomas Coopers Series
Coopers’ premium range, for when you want something with more depth. The Thomas Coopers Series includes Bootmaker Pale Ale, Preacher’s Hefeweizen, Golden Crown Lager, Family Secret Amber Ale, Innkeeper’s Daughter Special Ale, 86 Days Pilsner and Brew A IPA — crafted recipes with richer malt and hop character.
Coopers Malt Extracts
For brewers who want to lift their beer beyond a basic kit, Coopers liquid malt extracts — Light, Amber, Dark and Wheat — add body, flavour and a fuller finish in place of plain brewing sugar. A simple upgrade that makes a real difference.
How to Brew a Coopers Kit
Sanitise your fermenter, tip in the tin and your brewing sugar (or a malt extract for more body), top up with water, sprinkle in the yeast and fit the airlock. Ferment for around two weeks, bottle, then give it a week or two to condition. That’s it — a case of beer for well under a dollar a bottle.
