Bloody Great Northern Lager All Grain Recipe

This Single Vessel All-Grain recipe is our version of the iconic Australian, Great Northern Super Crisp Lager. This beer when brewed correctly is a perfect session beer for those who can’t stand –  or want a change from –  the big hoppy beers, or that ‘craft beer taste’. If you’re that person that says “just give me a plain and simple beer”, this one is for you! We have bumped the ABV up a little over the commercial offering to circa. 4.2% and with a simple Australian ale malt base with a touch of Carapils for head retention this golden, light beer is an easy drinker with minimal bitterness of circa. 13 IBU’s. Clean and crisp due to the addition of dry enzyme it is easy to ferment at ale temperatures due to the inclusion of a modified lager yeast. This is a beer that anyone can easily brew – so what are you waiting for?  Fire up the barby a get a couple of these into you!

• 23L Single Batch – using an electric brewery such as a G30 Grainfather or 35L BrewZilla
• Note: Water adjustment additions, compensations for trub loss, fermenter loss and other specific equipment considerations should be made to these instructions on an ‘as needs’ basis.

• Malts: 4.08kg: Barret Burston Pale Malt, Best Malz Carapils, Gladfield Sour Grapes Acidulated
• Hops: 30 grams Pride of Ringwood
• Yeast: 1 x Mangrove Jacks California Lager M54
• Kettle Fining: 1 x Whirlfloc Tablet (only use 1/2 tablet)
• Mangrove Jacks Dry Enzyme x 1
• Full Brew Day Instructions / Record

• It should be noted gravity readings and final ABV are subject to variance depending on efficiencies of brewing equipment and process. They are supplied as a reference point only.
• The grains for this recipe kit will be milled on our commercial Monster Mill. If you would like the grains unmilled please request this in the Comments section at Checkout.
• From time to time certain grains, hops and yeasts are unavailable. In the event an inclusion in this recipe kit is unavailable a substitute will be made of the same quality, flavour and characteristics.
• These recipe kits are suitable for BIAB systems – you may need to adjust water volumes for your system. If you are using a BIAB system we recommend requesting the grain to be double milled in the comments section during checkout.
