Brewing Supplement – Head and Body

The Brewing Supplement – Head and Body is a specialized world-style kit improver aimed at enhancing both the texture and presentation of your finished beer. Here’s a detailed overview:

Purpose and Benefits:

  • Improves Body: Adds depth and weight to your beer’s mouthfeel, making it richer and more satisfying—especially useful for kits that ferment out thin.

  • Enhances Head Retention: Helps your beer form and maintain a frothy, stable head, which contributes to aroma, appearance, and a better drinking experience.

  • Boosts Overall Taste: By improving body and head, it also improves flavor perception, giving a more rounded and professional-quality brew.

Likely Ingredients:

These supplements typically contain:

  • Malted wheat or wheat extract – known for aiding head retention

  • Carapils® or dextrin malt – non-fermentable sugars that enhance body and foam

  • Maltodextrin – adds mouthfeel without affecting alcohol content

  • Possibly some light DME (dry malt extract) – for fermentables and flavor

How to Use:

  • Mix into your wort during the brewing process—usually when rehydrating or dissolving the malt extract.

  • Typical dosage: 250g to 500g per 23 L batch, depending on the product.

  • Can be used alongside other improvers like Beer Improver or Brew Enhancer, or as a standalone upgrade to plain sugar.

Best For:

  • Pale ales, bitters, lagers, and other kits that need better foam and fuller mouthfeel

  • Brewers seeking more “real beer” characteristics from extract kits
