LalBrew Voss Kveik Ale Yeast is a traditional Norwegian yeast culture originating from Voss, Norway, provided by Sigmund Gjernes, who maintained the strain using traditional methods since the 1980s. Known for its exceptional heat tolerance, fast fermentation, and high flocculation, this yeast is an excellent choice for a variety of beer styles as well as meads.

Rehydration and Pitching Instructions:

While LalBrew Voss can be pitched directly into wort, rehydration in sterile water at 30-35°C (86-95°F) is recommended to optimize yeast health. The process:

  1. Sprinkle yeast on 10x its weight in sterile water at 30-35°C.
  2. Let sit undisturbed for 15 minutes, stir gently, and let it rest another 5 minutes.
  3. Adjust temperature gradually to match the wort (no more than 10°C drops to avoid yeast stress).
  4. Pitch without delay.

Avoid using wort or distilled/reverse osmosis water for rehydration as it may reduce yeast viability.

Storage Guidelines:

  • Storage Temperature: Below 4°C (39°F)
  • Packaging: Must remain vacuum-sealed; use within 3 days if opened
  • Opened Packs: Re-seal under vacuum and store below 4°C to extend shelf life
  • Shelf Life: Guaranteed until the printed expiry date when stored correctly
