Our Pure Distilling Toasted French Oak Chips are perfect for infusing a rich smoothness and subtle vanilla notes into your spirits, beer, and wine. Thanks to their larger surface area, these chips extract color and flavor more quickly than traditional staves or barrels.

Sediment Management:
As with all oak products, these chips may produce some sediment or tiny fragments. To prevent these from ending up in your final product, we recommend filtering through unbleached coffee filters before consumption. For beer or wine, racking the clear liquid off the oak helps ensure no sawdust or oak particles make it into the final product.

Multiple Uses:
Our oak chips can be reused multiple times. If reusing, allow adequate time during each subsequent soaking for full flavor development. For the best results, use new chips for each soaking.

Maturation Guidelines:

Spirits – Quick Aging for Full Flavor, Less Smoothness:
– Use 20g of chips per liter of 40-50% ABV.
– Soak for 10-14 days or until the desired color and flavor are achieved.
– Avoid prolonged soaking to prevent an overly oaky flavor.

Spirits – Slow Aging for Full Flavor, More Smoothness:
– Use 7g of chips per liter of 40-50% ABV.
– Soak for 3-4 weeks or until the desired color and flavor are achieved.
– Longer soaking times with this dosage will enhance smoothness without overwhelming oak flavors.

Wine and Beer:
– Use 3g of chips per liter.
– Soak for 24 hours, then taste periodically until the desired flavor is achieved.
