This extract recipe is our take on the magnificent Crankshaft IPA from the Bentspoke Brewing Co. in Canberra ACT.

This IPA with 325g of hops has a notable floral nose of citrus and pine from the large whirlpool and dry hop additions of Centennial, Citra, Simcoe and Ekuanot hops.

This hop forward beer is typical in style to a West Coast IPA and is balanced by a simple yet prominent malt bill of Light & Dry Extract, Caramel Hell and Caramunich I.

Coming in at circa. 5.8% with a moderate IBU of circa. 34 it is a sessionable IPA that will appeal to anyone who likes the commercial offering from Bentspoke.

• 2 x 1.5kg Coopers Light Liquid Malt Extract
• 1 x 500g Light Dried Malt Extract
• 1 x 200g Dextrose
• 1 x 550g Cracked Caramel Hell / Caramunich I Grains (Steep Grain Addition)
• 1 x 20g Boil Hop Addition (Simcoe)
• 1 x 145g Steep / Whirlpool Hop Addition (Centennial / Citra / Ekuanot / Simcoe)
• 1 x 160g Dry Hop Addition (Centennial / Citra / Ekuanot / Simcoe)
• 1 x Small Hop / Grain Bag (for Dry Hop Additions)
• 2 x LalBrew BRY-97 American West Coast Yeast (x2)

Other Ingredients:

• 200g of Dextrose if kegging with no secondary fermentation (not supplied)
